Mode of Operation

The trust seeks to establish a basic training centre at which communities and mainly women will acquire basic skills and best practise in agriculture, which they will use in their homes. When the initial centre is fully functional we hope that in turn we will set up some training satellites within the district.

It is envisaged that ZAT will sponsor the capital development and the acquisition of equipment and machinery and profits from the institution's activities should then provide for recurrent expenditure.

Skills Centre

Once we have the health centre operational and other initial objectives accomplished, the institution will expand to include skills training in the following fields;

  • Agriculture.
  • Engineering, Science and Technology.
  • Building Construction.
  • Carpentry.
  • Administration
  • Business and Secretarial Studies
  • Computer Science

We would also like to offer a Foundation Education Diploma (FED), which will cover; Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology), Mathematics, English, Shona, Ndebele, History, Geography, Art, Sociology.

An FED is designed to cater for students with some academic orientation, who may wish to proceed to institutions of Higher Education. Successful completion of five subjects from above will be accepted for a FED qualification.

These are proposals which are subject to alterations. We would therefore be pleased to receive suggestions from individuals or organisations.

Training of course will be introduced in stages. Those which are likely to offer more benefits to the communities will be given priority. For example, agriculture will be afford first priority to ensure continued availabilty of food security. Likewise, engineering, science and technology will also be high on the list, to ensure efficient servicing of national and local institutions in health, education, transport, communications etc.

For the next two or three years our efforts will be directed towards improving the health of the communities. Once we are satisfied that the health sector is functioning well, we can then turn our attention to other sectors as we will be in a better position to embark on them.

We hope to raise £500,000 to £1,000,000 for the development of this skills centre.
